Primrose Squarp knows her parents did not drown at sea during a terrible storm, but try convincing the other residents of coal harbour of that. For the time being, Primrose is an orphan and hardly anyone wants to adopt her. Finally the town council found her uncle Jack to take care of her. Primrose does warm up in his care despite the loud noises resembling a hockey game in the night. The true place for her is found at a restaurant called the Girl on the Red Swing where every thing (including pineapple) is served on a waffle. and where the owner, Miss. Bowzer is great at giving advise.
I recommend this book to anyone who likes to read about kids being different and fitting in.
